International House&Program Office

International House at UC Berkeley is a multi-cultural residence and program center serving students, the local community and alumni worldwide. Its mission is to foster intercultural respect, understanding, lifelong friendships and leadership skills for the promotion of a more tolerant and peaceful world.

Programs and Events at the Program Office

The Program Office provides educational, cultural, social and recreational services for residents and members of International House. The Program Office specifically offers programs which contribute to building a sense of intercultural community for residents within the House; ongoing programs open to International House members; and activities strengthening linkages with the campus and the community. These include interracial and intercultural activities and forums broadening and enriching the social and cultural interactions of international students, US citizens and permanent residents. Community exploration trips provide students and scholars with the opportunity to understand the great diversity of the Bay Area while local International Friendship Programs, cultural performances and tours beyond the Bay Area offer overseas students and scholars special additional opportunities to experience California.
